What part of the IP address are you having problems with? If you are starting the client on Windows 10, you can run to client executable with -h followed by the IP address of the server you are connecting to. You can also use -p to specify the port. The default host is localhost, and the default port is 5900.
Are you using both our client and server when you are see the screen flickering issue? What are the details on your server and client, OS info would be helpful. If you are using the Windows client, logs can be found at %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware-\ There will be logs named vmware-mks.log that might have some helpful information for us. On linux, the logs will be under /tmp/vmware-/
I will file a bug on the duplicate processes issue. It won’t interfere with the first instance that was started, but it will consume a few megs of memory that don’t need to be used up.
